What do employers think of ashford university
Yes No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Low pay and no support for online faculty. The pay never increased for remote faculty and it is on the lower scale compared to other universities. There was little to no support for remote faculty, except an email or phone call on occasion.
Pros Work from home. Cons Low pay. Share your experience Let job seekers know what it's like to work at your company. So happy I left when I did.
It was a nightmare when I worked there, and from what I understand, became a bigger mess after I left. Working for Ashford will ruin your career in academia. Pretty good benefits, though a few perks on-site health clinic, cafeteria, and gym were lost due to covid and the split from parent company Zovio. The university was great about accommodating work-from-home practices at onset of covid. Unfortunately some departments are understaffed with backlogs of work, which can make the job itself stressful.
Pros Free tuition for staff. Cons Heavy workload. It is a numbers based recruitment job. As a new hire you are given a list of names and numbers to call and deliver sales pitch. Most are so annoyed they either don't answer or tell you to kick rocks. These lists are bought from anyone who has ever either intentionally filled out a "I'm interested in attending college form online" or if someone doesn't like you and posts your name and phone number on one of those sights.
Your information is then sent to competing online programs who begin calling you. If you do not have live people referrals who enroll, plan to be making calls daily for 8 hours.
IF you enroll a student, then you are pressed to get referrals from that student on who else you can enroll. The long term employees are those who landed referred students, otherwise turn around is about months if you play the game. Pay is great starting but at the end of the week you are a number and that number is how many new students and referrals you had.
Pros Cafeteria is great, onsite gym. Cons work environment, lack of directional or supportive management. Great place to work treat their employees like gold.
I was empowered to make a difference for the Veteran students I served. The company at every level was extremely supportive and equipped me to succeed. I worked online for Ashford 9 years. They provide a fine curriculum and thoughtful students.
It was a wonderful experience. As an Associate Professor, I gained the experience and self confidence I needed to enhance my teaching career. Pros Diversity of classes to teach. Cons None. Work with all kinds of students. Good benefits and pay is decent.
Co-workers are great. Tough goals for retention. Its not focused on you helping the student succeed. You just need to make sure they do not drop out. Pros Good benefits. There are many on-line programs that are merely extensions of the same University's in class room programs. Don't sweat it, a degree is a degree stamped with the University name irregardless of whether you went on-line or in a class room.
Major universities are now offering some of their most competitive degree programs on-line as well as via the traditional route now. Do they even ask? PV2 Daniel Sullivan 6 y. I've partnered with financial aid and the grants team, and even with IT when I was having issues. And I didn't have any issues. From a student standpoint or a learning standpoint, the only opportunity for improvement is the way that certain professors structure the group work. When you're doing, in essence, online learning or distance learning, group work can be very difficult depending on time zones and what the day looks like for everybody in the group.
About three of my classes required group work and that's where I struggled the most. I had to communicate with my professors more often than usual and that needs to improve. They should determine a way of scheduling a specific time or limiting the group work to you and one other person. Every class that I had group work in was a group of between three to five different students, and it was chaos at that point. It's a great program. They gave me the foundation that I need to excel in my career.
I've been looking for a job since graduating in September and I got it today. A few hours ago, I was in my final interview for this salary, administrative, generously compensating position. I was talking about what Ashford did for me academically and personally. They gave me the structure, the maturity and the confidence to go out there and sell myself for a manager position.
I had good teachers at the University of Arizona and for the most part, it was a good experience. The professors in the college work well with the military, which was a huge help for me being in the military. It's a great school.
I talked to a rep and it was appealing that I could take one course for six weeks and I don't really have to go in. A regular semester would be four credits and four classes.
It wouldn't be as overwhelming the way the rep explained it. The learning experience was unique and was a different experience. Also, the professors are pretty decent as far as working with the students and working with the adult population. I completed my degree at University of Arizona. It was a good learning experience. A lot of it was self-paced. I had some good professors too. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.
I was with Ashford. I decided to enroll with them because it was flexible and it was class by class. I felt progress. Their enrollment was fairly easy. Plus, I'm military-related.
My husband is on active duty so, that was helpful as well with the discounts. They have timely communication. I also liked the feedback the instructors gave because they would pull more information out of me.
That was helpful. Even though it was online, it was interactive with discussions. I loved going to Ashford. They were amazing. Anytime I had any type of questions, they always responded back in a timely manner. I graduated last year with a bachelor's degree. Live agent Save Saved.

Yes, Ashford University is for profit. How much does Ashford University cost? It depends on the degree program. But the accredited programs, as well as my years work experience, I will be prepared for the civilian world.
I would just do your research on all of the programs and see which are accredited by the proper institutions. This is important, and a new college student may not know this.
The healthcare admin degree is accredited as a whole with the school, but not by specific healthcare admin accrediting agencies. Everyones experience is different, but overall I would rate this school as not bad. I have also only done online school. It is a total waste of time and money if one plans to teach in Missouri. I contacted the Missouri Department of Elementry and Secondary Education and now understand that the degree they provide will not advance one toward teacher certification.
Instead of letting me finish the 9 classes I need. I had to take other classes. Now my account has been place on hold because I can no longer use financial aid to cover my courses. I felt like I was taken advantage of. My advisor would send me emails but would never respond to my email. Instead of completing my degree within I was removed from the school.
Hong Xiu. It is a scam school, for profit restructured to hide this. They market to military and low income. The degree is garbage.
You cannot get a job with Arizona Global University you will be laughed at. The credits won't transfer to a real university. It is a diploma mill and again for profit do not let the new name and shady accounting fool you.
It is Ashford. The most shadey fake school in America. Chris Barnhill. I had a "hold" and they didn't know why. A "D" in college is an F so I got to redo my course and pay for it. It's a total sham and student services is no help and has no idea what's going on.
If I could go back I'd tell myself this place is not worth it. Keep looking, or invest your money somewhere else. Because going back to school at 40 yrs old and having to go through all that BS is for kids that don't have a life an family to provide for. I enrolled for my B. After graduating and the experience I had at Ashford, I decided to re-enroll for my M. After attending Ashford, I feel very confident in seeking a new career in education. All of my professors were excellent and very helpful throughout my entire education—outstanding online school.
Be prepared to work hard and do your part with your teacher's support and all the resources they have to offer; you will succeed. I would highly recommend the school to my friends and family. Professors will not hold your hand. It is a lot of self study, self direction and self motivation. And reading, reading, reading. If this is not your style of learning, then enroll somewhere else. I personally am almost done with my Masters and I got a lot out of it.
The curriculum and reading covered a broad base of knowledge. Jamie Campa. Below are a few things to consider: -Advisors will not hold your hand and walk you through the start of each class. If you reach out they are definitely helpful and respond quickly. Some go out of their way to help and others say call IT or use your tutoring resources.
I asked for clarification on an assignment and one professor copied and pasted the original requirements with out further explanation. Kat Matt.
Very disorganized from the beginning, and no-one knows anything about you when you call. They drop you from your classes at any point, and you can't get back in until the next one starts. I was dropped in the 4th week for something ridiculous, and they would not put me back in, all that work lost!!!! That was the second time that had happened.
