Should i swing like moe norman

Tiger woods said only two people owned their swings, Ben Hogan and Moe Norman. I certainly feel like if he wasnt such an extroverted character and had played on the PGA tour even though they wanted to change him because he wasnt your typical golfer I think he'd be a far more recognisable figure in today's game. The man is a legend and I think a huge amount can be learned from him regardless of how you think about swinging a club.

Just remember: you put this dumb guy into that dumb guy, into that dumb guy into that dumb guy. Joined Sep 22, Messages 23, Location Kent. I occasionally play with someone who has a very Mo type swing and he rarely misses a fairway with it. I dont think he'd ever heard of Mo so just worked it out for himself but it certainly works for him. Griffsters Hacker Nov 24, Joined Sep 9, Messages I think Mo Norman's swing demonstrates perfectly that you shouldn't get hung up on needing to emulate another players swing, it was his own swing and it worked for him.

No one 'technique' works for everyone! Joined Feb 20, Messages 5, There is definitely a case for playing your own way. The point is trying to enjoy the game for a life time and having a competitive game for a life time. The amount of injuries and curtailed careers now seems to be greater. In other forum, some people switch to single plane golf swing because they have back injury or preven one. Nov 25, Joined Jun 9, Messages 22, Location Highlands. Followers 1. Saint September 17, You should really try to get the fade and draw down. There are times when that is the shot you need to hit. Where's the Cart Girl?

Then you'll never be a good golfer. Probably no one is copying it because I have never heard of the guy I was intrigued by him when I saw a Golfchannel special on Moe on Youtube some time ago. You can see Tiger saying about Moe, 'There are two people who own golf swing.

One is Ben Hogan and the other is Moe Norman. Cussin hacker September 17, Moe was in a class by himself with his swing. Same as Hogan with his. That doesn't mean you can teach people play at the same level as the masters. Why is Moes swing not taught more?? I think, as some have said, he's not as well known.

You could definetly win with Moe or Hogans swing. We could win what? My drives are long and straight. I hit a lot more greens in regulation. But, I'm not scoring.

I know I should practice my short game but driving the ball yards down the fairway is a lot more fun. I play two games a week and the highlights of the summer is my three eagles. One with a 25 foot putt, one from yards on a par 4 and my last one on Sunday from yards on a par 5. I can't break 80 yet. I had three 80's, one with a 35 on the front nine.

I will see you next spring early May for another lesson. I will work on the drills Todd suggested on his DVD. Your part on the newsletter is always interesting reading. I find myself more relaxed during the game and have a lot more fun.

Thanks Ron, My drives are much longer and straighter. My game is a lot more fun, my handicap is slowly coming down but I feel I can do a lot better. I know you dont recommend pounding balls as the best way to learn the single plane swing, but at 64 years of age I am out on the range again and can hit four buckets of balls every day without hurting my back. Am I tired afterwards and little sore- yes. But using the swing I am fine the next day and usually back out there hitting balls again.

I know it has saved my back. The fact that I am also getting better on the course is icing on the cake. Its not that complicated…. So up until about 4 years ago I carried about a 12 to 14 handy capper for 9 holes. After that I came across Moe Norman on my pc. I was 43 and have been playing for 27 years.

Worked for me. All the best , Karl NZ. Can you put a group of students together? I am sure I can get a few from my database. I would love to come to New Zealand. Hi Todd, Totally agree with your response. It is guys like that ex-Pro that are killing our game. I started with you some 3 or 4 years ago when I was off 19 or so. Having bought the DVDs, the online lessons and eventually decided to visit you in Florida last year I am now off 11 and can hit my 4 iron m, roughly yds and straight.

I will be 70 next February. I could not have done this without improving my technique. So thanks to you and Moe, I now enjoy my golf……….. Thanks David. I agree. Golf instruction needs to evolve. Personally I never stop learning and evolving my own understanding.

The goal of course, is to be helpful to use any tools and information available to help others succeed. All of us, no matter our age, have so much potential if we just simply focus our efforts in the right direction.
